Sam's 4 months

Can you believe it? 4 months tomorrow! He is growing so fast. So, here's the stats:
14 lbs. 14 oz. (50th percentile)
25 1/2 inches long (75th percentile)
head circumference: 42.6 cm
He has rolled over twice in his bed, but I have not actually seen him do it yet. He is starting to support himself sitting up. He loves to stand and jump on your legs. He is the happiest baby I've ever seen. He had two shots yesterday. Then, he fell asleep in the car as soon as we left. I let him sleep for about 45 minutes and decided we needed to get his 3 month pictures done since he wasn't going to be 3 months much longer. So, we went to Target and had pictures done. He smiled in all but 1 picture! Can you believe it?! The photographer and I were pretty amazed at how good he did. He is always such a happy guy (unless he's tired or hungry.) He loves to chew on his fingers and he drools all the time. He uses a pacifier, but prefers sucking his hands. His nighttime sleeping habits vary. There are times he is up every 4 hours and other times (like last night) that he sleeps for 12 hours without waking up. Hopefully we'll get on a normal schedule before long. He is called "Bubba" most of the time (atleast by family members.) Non-family members refer to him as Sam or Sammy. The poor boy is going to just going to have to tell us what he wants to be called when he gets bigger.

Sisterly Advice

Here is Emmy giving Sam advice on how to handle the roughest days.

WOW...

it's been a long time since I posted anything. I guess it's safe to say, things have been very busy around here. Where should I start? Scott's been looking for a new job for quite some time now. He had 3 interviews with Daisy over the past month, and a week ago Monday, they finally called and offered him a position! We couldn't be more excited.

On Tuesday, I turned 31! Yes, I'm officially IN my 30s now. I can't believe it. My parents met us at Cheesecake Factory for dinner. It was delicious! P1040073

Days I will miss:

I am keeping my friend's son two days a week while she goes to college. I know I've posted about Emmy's best friend, Ethan. I am certainly going to miss these days when these 2 grow up. I have feeling these pics will find their way to a high school graduation slide show!

Emmy giving her Miss America wave while riding on the back of her CARS tricycle. They LOVE to do this. Ethan will ride Emmy around the house. It's pretty cute!P1040023

Here's another one from another day. I'm telling you, this is one of their favorite things to do.

Just a precious picture of Sammy. I know...poor thing has so many pink things he has to deal with.

Sam's First Cereal
Two weeks ago, Sammy decided he didn't want to sleep through the night anymore. I thought he may not be getting enough food during the day, so I decided to try cereal. I spoon fed it to him for 2 days and it didn't help. Then, I decided to try pumping and giving it to him in a bottle. This went on for 3 days and it worked miracles. He was sleeping all night! But, then he decided he didn't want to nurse anymore, so I stopped all cereal and bottles. We are strictly nursing again and he's sleeping through the night (most nights anyway.) I had a video of this too, but it's too big and taking too long to upload. Sorry! It really wasn't all that exciting anyway.

Flashback to the 50s

This weekend our church hosted their annual Trunk-r-Treat. Every year I have big ideas and big plans for decorating the back of our vehicle and every year the ideas fall by the wayside. This year I was determined to do something fabulous. The ideas began to flow when Amiya said she wanted to be a waitress that wears roller skates. I knew my mom had poodle skirts from when we were young and that 50s waitresses wore roller skates. So, there you have it! The 50s idea came about. Emmy wore the poodle skirt Amiya wore when she was one. My mom made new poodle skirts for Amiya and I. Scott and Bubba went as "Greasers" or "bad boys." Their costume was rolled up blue jeans, a white shirt, and completed with a tattoo and a box of cigerettes rolled up in their sleeve. It was too cute. None of the pics of us as a family were great, but you get the idea. Emmy refused to let me take a picture of her by herself (as a matter of fact, she got REALLY mad when one of the ladies at church took her picture without asking her. She turned around and starting bawling when she realized that the lady was taking her picture. I mean, how dare her!)

So, I used the 50s theme to decorate the back of the suburban as well. We made it look like a 50s diner. The kids could play ring toss using glow-in-the-dark necklaces as the rings and old glass coke bottles as the item to throw the ring around. They got a big kick out of that. We also had hula hoop contests. Their treat was a bag of popcorn. Cute, huh? I was pretty impressed and we all had a great time. I couldn't have done this without my mom's help. Thanks MOM for helping me every step of the way. It was a lot of fun!

Now, for the pics. Hope you enjoy!

3 months already

Bubba turned 3 months old yesterday. I can't believe 3 months has already passed. Here are some things I have learned about Sam in the past 3 months:
1. He's very laid back.
2. He loves for people to talk to him. He just laughs and smiles anytime someone says anything to him. I take him with me to Amiya's school once a week to run copies for the teachers. Of course all the teachers love to talk to him because he "talks" back and smiles so big. He has the most precious dimples.
3. He LOVES his big sisters. He lets Amiya tote him around anywhere and just smiles so big when Emmy talks to him. One of the really cute things about him and Emmy's relationship is when he cries, Emmy will say "It's okay bubba. Don't cry." Melts my heart!
4. He loves for someone to stand him up.
5. His favorite place to be is wrapped up in the Ultimate Baby Wrap (a must have!) This is how he spends most of his day. It's the only way momma gets things done.
6. He is content for up to 45 minutes just sitting in his bouncy seat watching everyone play.
7. He is still only breastfeeding. This is the longest I've strictly nursed.
8. He weighs around 14-15 pounds.
9. The only time he cries is when he is hungry or has gas.
10. He's not a big napper, but is sleeping from around 10 PM to 6 AM pretty consistently.
Here's a picture of him yesterday next to the dog.

Funny (ok maybe disgusting) Story

And a funny story about my little man:

Sunday morning we were at church. I had him all dressed cute and everything. So, I sat down during class to nurse him (like I always do.) All of a sudden I feel this really warm stuff on my legs (and between my legs.) I am thinking to myself, "Sure I didn't just pee on myself." I started feeling on my leg where it was warm and found poop on my hands. Yes POOP!! Gross. I got very sick to my stomach. I picked him up and saw the most disgusting thing ever. Poop everywhere! Ok, not everywhere because Sam only had a tiny bit on him...it was all over me. So, I went home, changed both of us, and headed back to church. 20 minutes later, he did it AGAIN. This time I wasn't holding him and he didn't get it on the person, but he did leak out of another diaper. I guess it's time to move him up to size 3 diapers!
